Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day

indigo

Today is the day that we take a moment to remember all of the babies lost during pregnancy or in infancy.  So many times, these babies forgotten by others because it seems too hard as an outsider to know what to do or what to say to the parents who have lost a little one.  Studies have shown that 10-25% of pregnancies will end in miscarriage so the chances are that you know at least one woman who has experienced a loss.

Although majority of pregnancy losses occur in the first trimester, most of them are wanted pregnancies and therefore the family must be allowed to grieve properly.  “There is no footprint too small that it cannot leave an imprint on this world.”  This is SO true and a lot of times, until you have actually experienced a loss, it’s hard to wrap your head around the pain that a parent experiences when they lose a child.

If you know someone who has experienced a loss recently or any time in the past, please check out our article on What NOT to Say and What TO Say to the family.  Sometimes it is difficult to think of the right thing to say, but it is very important to realize that a seemingly innocent comment can be terribly hurtful and crushing to someone who has experienced a loss.

If you have experienced any loss, I just want to give you a big hug.  I have been there.  I don’t know how YOU feel, but I do know how it feels to lose a very loved and wanted child.  If you would like to read my story of my sweet baby Indigo, please do.  Also, if you would like to share the story of your sweet baby, PLEASE do!!  Feel free to share comments here or go share on our Facebook page.  We never want to forget any of our sweet little ones!

If you would like to join in creating the WAVE OF LIGHT, please light a candle at 7:00 pm this evening in whatever time zone you are in.  Let the light of your sweet baby shine!!  Also, please check out the introduction of our new, amazing guest artist, Deleena Foster, who has created a beautiful Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance coloring page for us.
