Organize Your Life!

I can’t remember one minute to the next with all of the things I have going on in my life. All of the kids, all of the jobs, all of the school events, Navigators events, family events… I could go on and on for days. I am terrible at keeping track of things, so it is very important that I write everything down. An awesome planner lets me be responsible and have fun because I can customize and decorate it all I want. Review: Neilmed Naspira Nasal-Oral Aspirator

I received from product via MomsMeet in exchange for my honest opinion.

Let’s see a show of hands…  Who loves to suck out their baby’s snot?  Me??  HECK YES I DO.  Ok, no.  I don’t really, but sometimes it is a necessary evil.  When kids get sick, they get stuffy noses.  When kids get stuffy noses, they get cranky.  They can’t breathe.  No one is happy.

Have you ever tried one of those big blue or green bulb suckers?  You have to shove that giant tip into your baby’s tiny nostril and try not to suck their brain out in the process.  I have never been able to achieve such a task without wailing and flailing.

The Neilmed Naspira is a new-fangled nose sucker.  It has the features and functions of the regular type of bulb sucker that you know and may or may not love as well as the option to be a Nasal-Oral suction device.  I know.  It sounds gross.  Believe me, the first few times I try these type of things, I always dry heave a bit, but they are SO effective.  They are actually quite amusing once you get the hang of it. Review: al fresco Sweet Apple Chicken Sausage with Giveaway

I was sent a sample of the Sweet Apple Chicken Sausage from al fresco as well as a pack of the precooked chicken bacon to test out in some recipes.  I think I was more excited about the bacon because, well…  BACON!!  It’s precooked so that makes my life ten times easier.  I hate cooking bacon.  It’s literally on my top five list of despised activities.

For my first recipe, I decided to make some breakfast tacos after dropping the boys at the bus one morning.  I used a couple pieces of bacon because I knew I wanted to save the sausage for a meal when all of the kids were home so I could see how they liked it. […]

Sunday FunDay: Pumping While Driving

Sunday is the last day of the weekend.  It’s our last bit of free time before we have to get back to the school and work week.  I usually have a bunch of chaos going on during the week and I thought that it would be fun to have one of my crazy moments turned into a cartoon by Angela McReynolds every week.

This week, it was pumping while driving.  I have actually gotten pretty good at this thanks to my Spectra pump.  It holds a charge so I can easily take my pump with me and get a day’s worth of pumps-to-go on one charge without worrying about plugging it in.  Liz and I went to Houlihan’s for lunch (which was AMAZING, by the way!) and so I had to pump on the way to pick her up and on the way home.  While I have always been comfortable breastfeeding in public, I always feel a little awkward while pumping and driving.  Of course, the only people that can usually see in and see what I am doing are men driving big trucks.  I avoid them like the plague, especially at red lights where I might have to sit for a minute or two in awkwardness.

Where’s the weirdest place you have ever pumped?? […]

Review: Spectra S1 Breast Pump + Giveaway

I have been pumping since four days post-partum to give Laken the most precious gift of breast milk.  At first, I was using the Ameda Purely Yours pump that I had.  It was working, but I was having a hard time with sore nipples and I was getting clogs.  I had heard in some of my surrogacy and exclusively pumping Facebook groups that the Spectra line of pumps were REALLY good.

I got in touch with Brianne at Spectra Baby USA and she hooked me up with the Spectra S1.  I immediately fell in love with this pump.  There are so many wonderful features that this pump has.  Let me tell you about all of the pros. […]

My First Surrogacy Journey: Magazine Feature!

We were asked by a friend of our birth photographer if we were interested in sharing our story in a magazine.  Kimberly Whitaker-Enderle, owner and editor of Peekaboo magazine in Northwest Arkansas messaged me and told me about the February birthday issue.  I thought it sounded awesome to be able to share our story to even more people, so I started writing.  Of course the writing brought the emotions and tears.  It was so lovely to be able to share both my happiness and heartache to anyone who was interested to read.  You can read the full story that was published here.

Along with my own story, I got to read and share the stories of not only Joel and Shannon, but also Joel’s best friend, Thomas.  They all wrote a special little story and letter to me and I will always hold these words so near and dear to my heart.  Since they had to be shortened for the article, I wanted to share them in their entirety here so I have them to look back on any time…
