We love to do things as a family and living in Texas, one of the best things you can do when Fall comes around is to go to the State Fair of Texas. We were invited to visit the fair this past weekend and were super excited about it! When we first got there, my boys ran straight towards the rides. I had a plan and it flew right out of the window! Since mom staring at her carefully planned itinerary and map is “boring”, I just went with it and off to the rides we went. There are TONS of rides for all ages and my four year old, Chevy, was actually tall enough to ride some all by himself. He was SO excited!!
My oldest, Bradyn, rode his first “big” roller coaster!
My second oldest, Remy, rode this crazy ride that made me super dizzy.
My middle boy, Phoenix, loved the bumper cars.
Since I’m pregnant, I decided the ride for me was the Texas Star. I rode it with Chevy and my two year old, Charlie. I think I was the only one that was scared. When we were halfway to the top, I remembered how much I don’t like heights. HAHA!
After a bunch of rides, we decided to munch on some good fair food. We had pizza, hot dogs, chili cheese fries, a fried mac & cheese slider, and MY favorite, FRIED OREOS. YES. They were amazing.
Since no one was interested in being on a schedule, we did a lot of aimless walking until I decided that we HAD to stop and watch the Wild West Pet Palooza. It was a super cute animal show with dogs, cats, pigs and even ducks! I had no idea you could train a duck to do anything!
We checked out the Greenhouse that had a ton of giant pumpkins with amazing carvings!
One of our stinky but adorable stops was the farm animals. The baby piglets were only two weeks old!!
Of course, we had to go see the new Big Tex! Is it just me, or is that one ugly giant??
A marching band passed us by as we were deciding where to go next!
The last thing we did was watch the pig races. Remy LOVES pigs, so this was probably his favorite attraction. The big fat piggy, Trixie, is over a THOUSAND pounds!! The little piglet was four pounds and he was only a week old. The last piggy race was won by our section’s piggy!!
Thank you to the State Fair of Texas for providing such a great experience for myself and my family! We had a wonderful time and can’t wait to come back next year! If you haven’t yet gotten to the State Fair this year, you still have plenty of time! The fair is open through October 18th, so plan a day (or fly by the seat of your pants like we did!) and go have a lot of fun with your family!
