I had the most amazing natural and unmedicated birth, and it’s one of my missions in life to spread the word about how empowering this experience can be. My daughter is now 7, and I still vividly remember every moment of her birth and how absolutely amazing it was. Seriously, natural birth feels amazing, and here is why!

When I first decided on having a natural childbirth, I was never scared. Instead, I did my own research and prepared to make this the most amazing experience for both me and my baby. I completely ignored the mainstream negativity surrounding natural birth and chose to empower myself. I trusted that my body was designed to create and birth life naturally, and unless something was extremely wrong, I was determined to have the most incredible time—and guess what? It happened!

I remember the only moment I felt scared was when the doctor wanted to monitor my baby, and I had to stay still on a bed. That felt completely unnatural to me. But once I voiced my concerns, the doctor allowed me to move around again, and everything felt great. I was back on track, feeling in control and strong.
For expectant mothers who are considering natural childbirth, here are a few things that made my experience so amazing:

1-Breathing Techniques and Hypnobirthing
These were my lifesavers! Breathing techniques combined with hypnobirthing helped me stay calm and focused. I didn’t even feel the infamous “ring of fire” thanks to these relaxation techniques.
2-Supportive Health Care Team
My healthcare provider and support team were phenomenal. Having a great supportive team is the perfect recipe for the best birth experience. They respected my birth plan and provided minimal interventions, which allowed me to have the natural birth I envisioned.
3-Comfort Measures and Different Positions
During active labor, moving around and finding comfortable positions helped immensely. Whether it was using a birthing ball or taking deep breaths, these comfort measures made the labor process smoother.
4-Preparation and Education
Childbirth education classes were crucial. They provided me with realistic expectations and taught me about various childbirth options, including unmedicated childbirth and pain management options like nitrous oxide, which I chose not to use but knew was there if I needed it.
5-Empowerment and Trust in My Body
I focused on empowering myself and trusting that my body could handle childbirth. I viewed it as a natural event and was ready to embrace it. This mindset made a world of difference.
6-Freedom from Pain Medication
Opting for an unmedicated birth meant I experienced the birth feel more fully. I wasn’t numbed by pain medication, and I could respond to my body’s cues naturally. This also meant I avoided potential side effects of pain medicine and general anesthesia.
7-Natural Pain Management
Using methods like deep breathing, I managed labor pain effectively. I avoided medical pain relief like epidural blocks, which can sometimes lead to complications or prolonged labor. For me, the worst pains were manageable with natural techniques and the support of my labor assistant and birth partner.
8-Faster Recovery Time
Without the need for interventions like an epidural birth or cesarean section, my recovery time was much quicker. I could immediately bond with my baby’s head crowning and her first cry, feeling every precious moment without the grogginess that can accompany medical procedures.
9-Better for Baby
Natural birth allowed my baby to pass through the birth canal, which can help clear her lungs and boost her immune system. Studies have shown that babies born via vaginal delivery have fewer respiratory issues compared to those born via cesarean section.
10-Empowerment and Accomplishment
The feeling of accomplishment after a natural birth is indescribable. I felt on top of the world, empowered, and deeply connected to my body and my baby. Even first-time moms can feel this incredible sense of achievement, knowing they brought life into the world naturally.

The benefits of natural birth are numerous. From a quicker recovery time to the immediate bonding experience with my healthy baby, the rewards are well worth the effort. I felt completely on top of the world once my daughter was born. It was one of the best feelings ever.
For those considering natural birth, it’s important to have a clear birth plan and discuss it with your healthcare provider. Whether you choose a birth center, a home birth, or a hospital setting, make sure your healthcare team supports your wishes. Even if you face challenges like a long labor or the need for medical intervention, staying informed and empowered can make a huge difference.

If you’re a first-time mom or expecting your second child, I encourage you to explore all your childbirth options. Attend childbirth classes, practice different relaxation techniques, and talk to other moms about their personal experiences. Knowledge is power!
Natural birth is an incredibly empowering and fulfilling experience. It might seem daunting, but with the right preparation and mindset, it can be one of the most rewarding journeys of your life. Don’t let fear or negativity stop you from exploring this beautiful option. Trust in your body, empower yourself, and enjoy the incredible journey of bringing new life into the world.
