Spread the love

If you’re like me, you’re always looking for ways to encourage healthy hair growth—especially if you’re dealing with natural curls. My hair has always been prone to dryness, but lately, it’s been suffering a bit more. Between everyday styling and my love for Jiu Jitsu, my curls are constantly getting pulled or stuck, leading to breakage.

So, I decided to dig deep into the world of natural oils to find the best solutions for faster hair growth and healthier strands. In this blog post, I’ll share what I’ve learned and the oils I’m currently experimenting with—some are hyped, some are trusted classics, and all are amazing for your scalp and hair.

1. Batana Oil

I’ve recently jumped on the Batana oil hype after seeing it all over TikTok! It’s an oil that promises faster hair growth, and while the smell is pretty strong, I’m curious to see what kind of magic it works on my hair. It’s rich in essential nutrients and works to strengthen the hair shaft. I’m currently combining it with a few lighter oils to balance things out, but I’m excited to see the results!

2. Rosemary Oil

Oh my goodness, I just love the smell of rosemary oil. It’s so fresh and earthy! I’ve heard so much about its ability to stimulate hair follicles and increase blood circulation to the scalp, which helps with hair regrowth. I’m adding a few drops of rosemary oil to my hair care routine to see how it supports my natural curls in the fight against breakage.

3. Castor Oil

Castor oil is a powerhouse when it comes to hair growth. It’s loaded with fatty acids and has been shown to increase hair follicle number in some studies. For me, castor oil is an excellent choice for my scalp health, especially when my hair feels extra dry.

It also helps with conditions like dry scalp and dandruff, thanks to its antifungal properties. I have been using it to grow my eyebrows and it is definitely working! A thick oil, castor is great for curly hair like mine, but I always make sure to mix it with a tablespoon of a carrier oil to make it more manageable.

4. Coconut Oil

No list would be complete without coconut oil. It’s one of my all-time favorites because it penetrates the hair shaft, moisturizing from within. It’s also a fantastic leave-in conditioner that leaves my hair soft and shiny. Whether you have curly hair like me or another hair type, coconut oil is a staple for anyone’s hair care routine.

5. Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil is an excellent oil for scalp conditions like an itchy scalp or dandruff. It mimics the natural oils (sebum) our scalp produces, which means it balances things out if you have a dry scalp. This oil is lighter than most, so it doesn’t weigh my curls down and helps maintain scalp health.

6. Amla Oil

Amla oil is a treasure from Ayurvedic medicine. While the smell is definitely not for everyone, I trust this oil completely because of its long history and origins. It’s packed with vitamin E and antioxidants, making it a must-have for anyone serious about growing healthier hair.

7. Olive Oil

Olive oil is another classic. It’s rich in oleic acid, which deeply moisturizes the scalp and promotes blood flow, ensuring faster hair growth. I love using it as a pre-shampoo treatment; just apply a generous amount, cover with a shower cap, and let it sit under a warm towel for 30 minutes before washing.

8. Argan Oil

Argan oil, sometimes called “liquid gold,” is rich in vitamin E and fatty acids, which are essential for healthy hair growth. It’s a fantastic oil for reducing hair shaft damage and restoring hair health. If you have finer hair or sensitive skin, this might be the best option for you.

9. Almond Oil

Almond oil is another oil I adore. It’s loaded with essential nutrients that nourish hair follicles and encourage growth. Plus, its lightweight consistency makes it perfect for daily use without leaving my hair greasy.

10. Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is one of the best essential oils for anyone dealing with scalp issues. It has antibacterial and antifungal properties that can help with conditions like dandruff and contact dermatitis, leading to a healthier scalp and, in turn, healthier hair growth.

11. Peppermint Oil

Peppermint oil is known to boost blood flow to the scalp, which promotes hair regrowth. The cooling sensation is also super refreshing during a scalp massage—just a few drops in a tablespoon of carrier oil, and you’re good to go!

12. Avocado Oil

Avocado oil is full of fatty acids and vitamins that your hair needs for growth. It’s an effective treatment for dry hair and scalp, making it one of my go-to oils when my curls are feeling particularly parched.

13. Pumpkin Seed Oil

I haven’t tried pumpkin seed oil yet, but I’ve read it can be super effective in reducing androgenic alopecia (male pattern baldness) in a control group of men during human studies. Its rich antioxidant properties make it a great option for fighting free radicals that damage hair.

I love experimenting with different oils for my hair because it feels like an ongoing adventure. Sometimes, it’s hard to pin down which ones work best for me since I get so excited about trying them all! However, after doing some research and seeing amazing results from these natural oils, I’ve found they each play a unique role in promoting healthier, faster hair growth.

From the heavier oils like castor oil to the lighter ones like jojoba oil, incorporating these oils into my hair care routine has made a significant difference. And the best part? Natural oils come with fewer side effects compared to conventional hair loss treatments, making them a safer, more nourishing choice for my curls.

So if you’re looking for the best oils to help with hair growth, give one (or a few) of these a try! Just be sure to do a patch test first to avoid any allergic reactions.
