After months of agonizing pain and reaching a level of discomfort that I just couldn’t handle anymore, I made a bold decision. With a mix of frustration and determination, I decided to take matters into my own hands.
Now, before we get into my story, I want to make it crystal clear: I am not advocating for anyone to do what I did. This is purely my personal experience, and for me, it was the best decision ever for the health of my reproductive organs.

For months, I was in pain. I had terrible cramps during my cycle, and something just didn’t feel right. They don’t fully explain how the copper coil works.
The coil it makes your uterus inflamed so it can’t hold an embryo. The idea of an essential organ being inflamed just didn’t sit right with me. So, I decided it was time to take the coil out.
I did the responsible thing and reached out to my doctor. During the appointment, they told me they couldn’t see or reach the strings of the coil to pull it out, even though I had both legs up in stirrups and their face was right there. I found it very strange as I could feel the string myself many times.

They even referred me to get an X-ray done in case the coil had shifted in my abdomen or maybe perforated my uterus! Imagine my desperation!
I left the doctor’s office angry, frustrated, and determined to not only find the coil but remove it immediately. It was a seek-and-destroy mission, and I am so proud to say I conquered it!
When I got home, I jumped into the shower, made sure my hands were clean, and crouched down. I remembered my breathing techniques from my daughter’s birth and tried to stay as relaxed as possible.

After a few attempts, I managed to feel the strings. I was shocked because moments before, my doctor insisted she couldn’t even see them.
To me, this just confirms that there’s some hidden agenda when it comes to birth control, but let’s not get too much into that.
The strings were ridiculously short, but they were there. I managed to grab them with my fingers, pinching them, but they slipped many times. It was frustrating, and let me tell you, that crouched-down position is not the most comfortable.

Finally, I managed to keep hold of the strings and was extremely careful not to tug too much in case it caused any damage coming out of the uterus through the cervix.
I had read and watched many videos on how the coil works and how professionals remove it. Once inserted, the coil opens up like an umbrella inside and anchors itself.
When you pull the strings, the coil should fold like an umbrella and smoothly come out. And that’s exactly what happened. It was quick, smooth, and absolutely painless.

Do I advise you to do it at home? No. Did I do it anyway? Yes. I was desperate, and the relief I felt after that thing was out of me was immeasurable.
All the headaches, the cramps, the feeling that I was carrying a huge rock inside, the mood swings—everything was gone!
Taking my coil out at home was a personal decision driven by desperation and discomfort. While I found relief and felt an enormous sense of accomplishment, I strongly advise anyone in a similar situation to consult with a healthcare professional.
My story is not a guideline but a personal journey towards regaining control over my own body. Stay informed, trust your instincts, and take care of yourselves.
